Wakaru belongs to a new generation of Japanese illustrators, and artists according to experts, one of the most audacious and international in recent years. She represents a type of figuration with a naif aesthetic but powerful in the handling of color and costumbrismo of its scenes. Her pictorial style is based on simple lines and “smiling faces”, according to the artist herself. A creative positivism that has led her to publish different books and to be one of the most demanded illustrators in Japan by brands and magazines. But behind that casual realism, there is also a message of valuing the everyday, the social encounter and the personal harmony of the human being, values intrinsic to Japanese culture, which should also be universal. In recent years she has crossed the barrier of contemporary art, exhibiting in galleries such as Akrilyc or The Waluso Gallery in London (United Kingdom) or Tokyo Pixel in Japan.
