Andrew Scott

AmericanAmerican
, b. 1991

Inspired by the communication style of editorial illustrators and street artists, Andrew Scott’s work is defined by visual plot twists, symbolic subversion, and conceptual storytelling. Aesthetically, his work makes use of selective bursts of red color in otherwise grayscale palettes, gritty graphites, and minimalist environments. Andrew’s most well-known for his viral frame alterations, including his broken glass art technique which creates the illusion of characters interacting with the frames containing them. His primary subject matter is mental health and the complex psychology of the human mind, exploring both the light and dark sides of our nature. Specifically, Andrew is focused on the experience of emotional growth and the variety of feelings that come with it—from hope, optimism, and joy to confusion, doubt, and fear.
